Ad-hoc DPV dive at point lobos

Oliver Edwards | Published on 4/30/2025

Shawn Passeri and Oliver Edwards used their scooters to explore Point Lobos mid April.

The first dive was along the rock pinnacles on the west side of Whalers, then wrapping around the point into bluefish cove. This area had excellent underwater life including beautiful corynactus covered rock pinnacles. The DPVs allows us to extend quite a ways into Bluefish.

The second dive went around Granite Point (across whalers from the entrance ramp) heading up towards Monastery. There are many underwater rock ridges here extending from shallows out to 100' plus depths. (visibility was good so we could look down from a more reasonable 70' scootering depth).

If you're interested in joining dives like this, look on the event calendar for "ad-hoc" dives and/or register to receive emails from the ad-hoc dive forum. (see this news article for details.)
