Club members comment on the April 2025 club dive at McAbee beach.
Alan seems happy:
Great dive day. Lindsay, thanks for organizing.
Derek's comment:
Alan and I dropped in at the reef due out from El Torito and swam through the darkest Kelp field I've been in. Felt like night diving, definitely lush conditions.
Did a 330 up the backside of the reef and then retraced steps for a 70 min dive. Wound up smack dab off the beach. Would love to ascribe it to our combined navigational skills, but I'm sure there is a good bit of luck in the mix.
Calm conditions but visibility ranged from moderate to poor.
Oliver reports:
Lindsay and I made it out to and around the pinnacle on my DPV. The poor vis made it a challenge to find. We saw a VERY large fish for a few moments before it disappeared into one of the dark kelp areas Derek mentioned (I believe was a sheepshead).
Sofia relates:
As for the Dive last Saturday: I couldn't equalize because of post-cold sinus issues, so I had to leave Derek and Alan to have fun without me, but I did get to socialize with all the cool people (and wonderful Sukha), enjoy Dachuan's company and film some fishies and jellies on my swim back to shore. Will link the video later.
